The Cottages is a distinctive apartment community that represented a unique development challenge. Set in suburban South Austin within walking distance of the Southpark Meadows retail development, The Cottages is comprised of 330 apartments spread across 25 acres. The apartment homes offer single-family features such as private, ground-floor entries and direct-access garages. Amenities include a clubhouse, fitness and business centers, resort-style pool and spa with fire pit and outdoor kitchen, and a dog park. Interiors feature custom cabinetry with built-in refrigerators and upgraded stainless steel appliances.

Originally named the Springs at Onion Creek, this project was started in 2001 by a previous developer but then put on hold until Criterion acquired the property and plans in 2006. Bringing the project to successful fruition required renegotiating utility contracts for improved terms and extensive design revisions to meet expectations in the Austin market. The Cottages are now leasing.
